Who’s behind Spare Key.
A small Australian business with one job: making sure your family can find what you meant them to.
Why it exists
It started with a paper planner. A funny one, with pages for the funeral music and who gets what. It was a good idea with two problems. It only covered the end, and anyone who opened the drawer could read the lot.
Spare Key keeps the humour and fixes both. It covers the whole of a life: letters for the kids before they arrive, the working file while you’re here, and your wishes for afterwards. And it’s locked, so each note opens only for the person it’s written to, when you said.
Who runs it
Spare Key is made in Melbourne by Oliver Goldsmith. It’s run by Blackwood Fund Australia Pty Ltd, ABN 72 687 023 918, of Glen Iris, Victoria. We’re Australian owned and we answer our own email.
What we commit to
- We can’t read your vault. We built it that way on purpose, and the security page explains how.
- No ads, no trackers, and we never sell information.
- You can take everything out, unlocked, at any time.
- If we ever have to close, we’ll email you at least 90 days before and keep exports working until then.
- A person reads every email, usually within one business day.
